Error Analysis, Cue Identification and Classification

Child Reads:The boy is tying his shoes. He is going for a walk.
Text Reads: The boy is tying his shoes. He is going for a run.

Which cueing systems is the reader using to make the error? Which cueing system is being ignored?

Answer:

In this example the reader is using meaning and structure cues since the sentence, He is going for a walk, makes sense and sounds right. The reader is ignoring all visual cues since all of the letters in walk and run are different, walk is longer than run, and the shape of the word walk is not similar to the shape of the word run.
